Being involved in a car accident is a frightening experience, even more so when serious injuries occur. Often, the vehicle repair and medical expenses associated with a collision are astronomical, leaving families in financial ruin.

You may be able to obtain compensation for the damages you’ve incurred, but in order to do so, it’s important to have a strong case. The photos you take after your accident can be one of the most helpful tools in accurately assessing the damage.

Also, take plenty of up-close photos of the damage to your vehicle. Mark each area of damage and take a photo of it far enough away that it can be determined where on the car the damage is located. Then, take another photo or two of the damage close up in order to show the extent of the damage.

Apart from the damage to your vehicle, it also may be helpful to your case to take photos of your injuries and/or the injuries of your passengers. Of course, if the injuries are very serious or you are incapacitated, this may not be possible, and that’s okay. However, if you are able to have photo documentation of any injuries, it can provide information as to how severe the injuries were at the time of the accident or shortly after.
